Chapter 6 of 11
A Clear Deck
Clear deck, clear Captain.
Here’s a funny secret: the space around your machine changes how your Captain feels inside.
When your room is a giant pile — toys everywhere, clothes on the floor, you can’t find one single sock — your Captain feels a little frazzled and foggy. But when your deck is clear? Toys in their bins, bed pulled up, floor you can dance on? Your Captain goes, “Ahh. Now I can think.”
Tidying up isn’t a punishment. It’s a gift you give your future self. Clear deck, clear Captain.
🧠 Try It! — The ten-things game. Set a timer for two minutes and put away ten things. Count them out loud: one… two… three… Race yourself! When the timer beeps, look around at your clear deck and take a big proud breath. Doesn’t that feel good?
The ten-things game
Two minutes on the clock. Can you beat your record?
